Lynx Martin Stonemason
Lynx Martin Stonemason is based in the sunny Nelson region of New Zealand, he can supply and lay top quality stone all over the South Island.
Lynx has a passion for stone and a fundamental understanding of how different types of stone fit together, this ability shines through in the high quality stonework he produces.
Lynx was born and educated in Dunedin, Otago and after completing secondary school did an apprenticeship in Building and Joinery which he excelled at and really enjoyed. Once completing this apprenticeship Lynx moved to Central Otago and fascinated by the many old stone cottages and other buildings made from the local schist stone of the area he decided to stay there do a further apprenticeship in the art of Stonemasonry working with the local stonemasons.
Having a strong desire for the outdoors Lynx frequented many South Island valleys and while climbing mountains was always interested in the earth’s makeup with the different rocky outcrops, rock seams and riverbed stone he would find.
In 1982 Lynx relocated to the MacKenzie Country where he set up his ”Building and Stonework Business”. Over a 20 year period Lynx worked on many projects in the area - houses, woolsheds farm huts, aeroplane hangars, schools etc. using his building and stone masonry skills to incorporate stone into many building designs. In 2003 Lynx relocated to the Nelson area where he has continued his stonemasonry business.
Being an experienced builder Lynx is also able to negotiate the many complexities of architectural design both exterior and interior to help his clients realise their dream of incorporating stone into their design no matter how big or small.
